Who am I? A teacher turned Career Development Practitioner (CDP) who has, through experience, seen the need to introduce career education and planning to youth, much earlier than is typically done now. Given that my own career journey has gone through a series of detours, I was even more inspired to start this business.
My Background: I bring to this business a Bachelor of Education degree (focus on English) from Nipissing University, and experience as a tutor, supply teacher, and as an instructor of adults in a high school diploma program. Though I no longer work as a teacher, I remain a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.
I also possess a Career Development Practitioner (CDP) certificate from Conestoga College, a program from which I graduated with honours. I have worked as an Employment Advisor at Sheridan College, where I provided assistance to students on resume writing, cover letter preparation, interview skills, and job search and networking techniques. I also contribute to a blog geared to other professionals in career development, and do my best to keep abreast of changes and new developments in the field.
My experiences working in education and in employment advising have led me to realize that there is a gap in the career education services available for young people. Many guidance counsellors in schools are simply too overwhelmed helping students with personal and academic issues to adequately provide career guidance and education. This is where I come in.
What I Can Offer You:
